Balance Training 6 Class Series

6 Thursdays: Mar 26 through Apr 30 @ 3:00 to 4:00 pm Eastern/New York Time. This course is taught LIVE at Hudson Valley Community College.

Did you know your center of gravity shifts and triggers balance to protect you from falls– when it’s working properly? This means being stable with good balance is the key to having the ability to fully function during the daily tasks of life without falling down. Standing on one foot and counting to 10 doesn’t train your body to regain balance if it is lost. This six-class series addresses the muscles and mechanisms responsible for keeping you upright, and is taught by a movement expert with 30 years of experience. All movements are performed on your feet, with modifications taught to meet the needs of class participants.

A MELT™ Foot & Hand kit is required to fully participate in this workshop.  This can be purchased at www.meltmethod.com.

Class Details

If you have a goal of aging without decline and NOT losing the ability to move without losing control or falling, you may want to register for this class. Your body is designed to maintain or regain stability while performing functional tasks like walking, dancing, reaching, and turning. The data reports increasing strength and activity levels improves balance if it’s impaired. This 6 class series will educate you AND train your body in regards to improving and/or maintaining healthy balance. This training does NOT address balance deficits caused by inner ear or visual disturbances.

Here is just some of what you will learn:

  • how to most effectively train your proprioceptors (a key to improving balance)
  • how to improve the efficiency of your body’s communication (this impacts balance in a big way)
  • what is ‘mostly’ a waste of time that many people believe is balance training
  • how to prevent compensatory movement patterns when training (no ‘cheating’ to build dysfunction)
  • learn the difference between strong abs and a STABLE core

A MELT™ Foot & Hand kit is required to fully participate in this class series.  This can be purchased at www.meltmethod.com.
